Patients and Carers

Critical illness can impact on patient's psychological and social needs during recovery. It is extremely important during this time that patients and relatives have access to the resources needed to support them. Ex ICU patients have founded a charity called ICU Steps, who promote the recognition of the physical and psychological consequences of critical illness.

ICU steps resources:

ICU patient and relative information

Children's information when visiting a loved one in ICU

Information sheet for parents and carers

ICU support groups:

ICU support groups help with the patient's rehabilitation and re-enablement following critical illness. ICU steps and the Intensive Care Society have produced joint guidance on the need for an implementation of support groups.
